£500 puts breast charity name on five Derby buses

September 1 2009

A £500 DONATION means five buses are now displaying signs carrying the website address of the Derby Breast Cancer Support Group.

The support group, secretary of which is Christine Cotterill, donated the money to the Namesake Appeal, which gives people the opportunity to name a Trent Barton Bus.
The amount has allowed the website address to be displayed inside five Trent Barton buses on routes through Ashbourne, Allestree, Mickleover, Spondon and Alfreton.

The Namesake Appeal was founded in 1999 by Heather Ward, of Stretton, near Alfreton.

Money raised is donated towards Derby's breast-screening unit.

Heather said: "The support group does great work and helps a lot of women battling breast cancer through the trauma of surgery and treatment.

"The group is fund-raising for the breast cancer screening unit, so all the money is going to the same place in the end."
